The reason I decided to create this page was because when I was installing my Duo Modchip, I couldnt find any site that could help me. duomodchip.com had the diagram for it, but wasnt very clear with how to install, and didnt show a picture of what it looked like when it was finished. I hope I can explain it a little clearer. I Installed my chip in a PS2 V.5/6 but it isnt to much different than the other versions.

"Installing"
Ok, once you begin installing your chip you need to remember a couple of good ideas...
1. Keep your wires short.
2. Don't strip the wires to much.
3. Don't use to much solder (you actually only need a tiny bit).
4. Leave your Soldering iron on 15 volts, any higher can melt the VIA's off.
The first time I installed the chip I had trouble with a black screen, I found out this was do to a bad ground. I used the ground that duomodchip.com had suggested, but it didnt work for me. So as you can see in my next picture, I found the best ground on the MB. just scratch away a little piece of the gold with a razor blade and solder your ground to the outter edge of the board. this also allows you to keep your ground short. Also dont forget to use a bigger wire for your ground wire and power wire (20-22 gauge) and for all of your other points use (30 gauge insulated wrapping wire) which can all be found at radio shack.

"Troubleshooting"
If you turn your PS2 on and you get the time and date screen, it means that there are points touching somewere. I had to put some electrical tape over some of my points because when I put the cage back on top of the MB it was shorting the chip out. If your are getting the BLACK SCREEN when you boot its probably because either your ground or power wires isnt getting good connection, that is if you feel confident that your bios points arent touching each other.
I realize I probably left some other things but if you follow all of these instructions closely, you will be playing your PS2 backups in know time. just remember dont get in a hurry, and use nice clean solder joints.
